Each session is designed especially for you and includes a pulse assessment, which helps determine areas in need of balance in your body.
You remain fully clothed (please wear light comfortable clothing) and lie on your back on a massage table, while the Jin Shin Do® Acupressurist holds combinations of acupoints. You determine the depth of the pressure. The experience is generally that sensitivity at the points is soon replaced by a pleasurable feeling of release. Usually you will eventually feel a deep sense of relaxation. You may share feelings or emotions that surface during the release of tension and stress, or just relax, perhaps falling into a deep and refreshing sleep. A typical session is one to one and a half hours.
Why Jin Shin Do® Acupressure?
An "acupressure" method may be simple and symptomatic, or sophisticated and deeply therapeutic. Jin Shin Do® covers both ends of this spectrum, for it can be used both as a self-help tool and as a professional therapeutic method. It brings about pleasurable, deep relaxation and increased awareness of both body and psyche.
Jin Shin Do® is based on the "Strange Flows," which provide a short-cut to balancing the body energy. These "Extraordinary Meridians" balance the 12 main meridians, with which a Registered Jin Shin Do® Acupressurist also works.
To facilitate deep release of tension, "local points" in tense areas are held with "distal points" that assist the release of tension because they are on the same meridian or are functionally related.
Jin Shin Do® is a 5-Elements based school of acupressure. It contrasts with acupuncture in the absence of needles, and because one individual is being touched by another in a supportive way that evokes the feeling of being held, cradled, and safe.

We modern, civilized human beings often find that we have forgotten how to relax our bodies and our minds. High expectations, tough targets and tight deadlines, competitive 24/7 cultures - this is just the tip of the iceberg, but this alone is enough to introduce mental and physical tension into our daily lives and make a serious dent in our sense of well-being. The tension grips the muscles, and if not released soon, becomes chronic - a sort of armoring that we keep on to protect us fro the dangers of the modern world.
"Nagging" pain, "controlled" tension, "pent-up" frustration, "repressed" emotions - we may spend so much time resisting "negative" feelings that we become afraid of feeling at all and lose touch with much of the beauty of life.
Sessions are $75 for a 60 minute session and $115 for a 90 minute session. It is recommended that for your first session we set up a 90 minute session to allow extra time for assessment.
Seniors (those 65 and older) and students receive a $10 discount per session.
